Multi-Engine Training

Adding a multi-engine raing to your current rating is a natural progression in most pilots aviation goals. This rating doesn't require as many hours of training as the private pilot certificate or the instrument rating. There are many ways to incorporate the multi-engine rating into your training curriculum.

Photo: 1976 Baron 58 You can use a multi-engine aircraft for your private pilot but most pilots get their private pilot in a single engine aircraft. This save the pilot money, fewer system to learn, and there is less wear-and-tear on the multi-engine aircraft.

Multi-Engine training requirement(Added class rating):

  1. Must receive an endorsement from an authorized instructor that the appilicantis competent in the knowledge areas appropiate for a multi-engine class rating.
  2. Must receive an endorsement from an authorized instructor that the appilicant is competent in the areas operation appropiate for a multi-engine class rating.
  3. Pass a practical flight test with an authorized FAA examiner.

Training Cost

The cost of training will depend on the amount of instruction you will need to obtain the skills required to operate an aircraft safely.    Another factor of cost is the time the student dedicates to training.   If you start your training and then stop, this can increase your cost.   You will get rusty and forget many skills which will require repeat training. The best way to lower your training cost is to be consistant with your taining and purchase one of Jim's training programs.

Aircraft For Training

The most expensive part of flight training is the cost of the aircraft.   This can be managed by picking the right aircraft for training.   Each student pilot has different needs and wants so it is best to consult your instructor to help determine the best aircraft for your training.   Some students may have their own aircraft and the flight instruction can be accomplished with it.
